    Do you have dogs nosing around your workplace, snoozing in cubes or padding their way into meetings? According to a 2006 survey conducted by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, one in five companies have given new meaning to the term office pet by allowing pets in the workplace.

    What’s with all this pet-friendliness? Companies that permit pets at work cite lower stress levels and higher productivity as some of the benefits. But pet-friendly policies give others pause. They say canines in the office can be a distraction and a liability waiting to happen. (That’s not even mentioning the occasional, but always-inconvenient messes.)
